FAQ
Straight answers
How much subsidy do I get under PM Surya Ghar?
The central subsidy is Rs 30,000 per kW up to 2 kW and Rs 18,000 for the third kW, capped at Rs 78,000 for systems of 3 kW or larger. Several states add their own top-up over and above this.
How many kW do I need for my home?
A rough rule: divide your monthly units by 120. A home using 360 units a month typically needs a 3 kW system. Our savings calculator does this precisely for your state tariff.
What is the payback period for rooftop solar?
With the subsidy, most homes recover the investment in 3 to 5 years, while panels are warrantied for 25 years. Payback is fastest in states with high tariffs.
