Our methodology
If you cannot see how a ranking was produced, you should not trust it. Here is ours in full.
The score
Every product carries a SimplyCompare score out of 10. It is computed from measurable attributes only: energy efficiency (ISEER, star rating, wattage), core capability (capacity, purification stages, tread life, safety certification), warranty terms and value for money against category peers.
What never enters the score: affiliate commission rate, brand popularity, advertising relationships or our personal preferences.
Calculators
Each calculator is arithmetic over documented inputs. Solar uses PM Surya Ghar subsidy slabs, state tariffs and typical sun hours. Appliance calculators use published consumption figures and your state average tariff. Water purifier advice uses city TDS estimates against BIS thresholds.
Every calculator page states its assumptions in a note under the result. Where an output is an estimate, we label it an estimate.
Which comparisons we publish
Head to head pages are created only where a genuine buying decision exists: same category, different brands, and prices within a reasonable band of each other. We do not auto-generate every possible pairing, because most of those pages would be noise.
What we do not do
We do not run lab tests, so we never claim to. We do not accept payment for placement, we do not publish sponsored reviews, and we do not host user ratings that we cannot verify.
When we get something wrong, we correct it. Write to us via the contact page and we will fix the data.
